Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 ⅓ cups flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Cream together the butter, sugar, salt, and vanilla in a mixer.
  3. In a food processor, combine 1 cup of flour and the chocolate chips, processing until the chocolate is chopped into small pieces.
  4. Mix the remaining 1 ⅓ cups of flour and the chocolate mixture with the butter mixture until well combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half and press it into the prepared cake pans evenly, smoothing the surface and pricking it with a fork.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes until golden brown on the edges, then loosen the edges with a knife.
  7. Wait five minutes, then carefully transfer the shortbread to a clean surface.
  8. Cut into wedges while still warm and transfer to a cooling rack.
