Ingredients

The Garlic Sauce

  • 1 head garlic (peeled and crushed)
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ lemon (juiced)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup plain yogurt

For Assembly

  • 6 whole whole-wheat pitas
  • butter or olive oil (for toasting the pitas)
  • thinly sliced pickles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by blending lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  2. Marinate the chicken in the mixture for 12 to 24 hours.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook the marinated chicken until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. For the garlic sauce, blend garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt until smooth, then stir in yogurt gently.
  5. Toast the pitas in a skillet with butter or olive oil until golden.
  6. Assemble the sandwich by spreading garlic sauce in the pita, adding pickles, and placing the cooked chicken inside.
