The icing

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare baking sheets.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- In a stand mixer, cream together the butter and brown sugar, then mix in the egg and vanilla.
- Blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, then mix in the pecans.
- Shape the dough into balls and place them on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake until the tops are slightly under-baked, about 9 minutes.
- Cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the icing, boil brown sugar, half and half, and butter in a saucepan, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat, stir in powdered sugar, and let cool slightly.
- Spread the icing over the cookies and top with a pecan before the icing sets.
