Ingredients

The cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • cup AMERICAN HERITAGE Finely Grated Baking Chocolate
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
  • ½ teaspoon salt

The chocolate sauce

  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 cup AMERICAN HERITAGE® Finely Grated Baking Chocolate
  • 1 cup heavy cream, slightly warmed
  • ¼ cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together until smooth, then mix in the egg yolks and heavy cream.
  2. Add the salt, nutmeg, and grated chocolate, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Gradually incorporate the flour until fully mixed, then set aside.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F and whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
  6. Grease a 10-inch bundt cake pan and pour in the batter.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°F.
  8. For the chocolate sauce, warm the cream over low heat, then add the chocolate and stir until melted.
  9. Mix in the buttermilk and remove from heat, then whisk in the egg white.
  10. Drape the chocolate sauce over the cooled cake and serve.
