Ingredients

The cups

  • 1 package (16 oz.) wonton wrappers

The filling

  • 1 container (15 oz.) ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 ⅓ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp. almond extract
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 cups mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • to taste powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Whisk 1 cup of milk into the cornstarch until smooth and let it sit for 20 minutes.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan, add the remaining milk and sugar, and heat on medium-low while stirring until thick and smooth (about 7-10 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat, stir in almond and vanilla extracts, cover with plastic wrap, and let it cool to room temperature.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F and press wonton wrappers into a mini baking cup pan to form cups.
  5. Bake the cups for 10-15 minutes until golden brown, then let them cool.
  6. Once the milk mixture is cool, whisk in the ricotta and optional cinnamon until smooth.
  7. Pipe or scoop the filling into the baked wonton cups, sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, and dust with powdered sugar.
  8. Refrigerate or serve immediately.
