Ingredients

The pasta

  • 10 oz dry wheat thin spaghetti

The meat sauce

  • ¾ lb 95% lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

The cheese

  • 3 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese, cut into cubes
  • cup fat free cottage cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup shredded 2% Mozzarella cheese, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a deep dish 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray.
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions.
  3. In a skillet, cook the ground beef with onion, salt, and pepper until browned, then add garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, oregano, and Italian seasoning, then simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot, adding cream cheese to melt and coat the pasta.
  6. Mix in cottage cheese, Parmesan, and ¼ cup of Mozzarella, then add 2 cups of the meat sauce and combine.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the pie plate, press down, and smooth the top.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of Mozzarella on top and bake for 20 minutes until bubbly.
  9. Let it stand for a few minutes before cutting into 6 wedges and serving with additional meat sauce.
