Ingredients

Spaghetti Layer

  • 6 oz spaghetti or linguine
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • ½ cup Romano cheese, grated

Cheese Layer

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Romano cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper

Topping Layer

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon Italian parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil, then add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for one minute.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, draining excess grease.
  4. Stir in spaghetti sauce and simmer for 10 minutes until thick.
  5. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, then drain.
  6. Toss spaghetti with melted butter, beaten eggs, and grated Romano cheese.
  7. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Romano cheese, herbs, and seasonings until combined.
  8. Press spaghetti into a buttered pie dish to form a crust.
  9. Layer the cheese mixture over the spaghetti, followed by the meat sauce.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, then top with mozzarella and parsley.
  11. Bake for an additional 6-8 minutes until cheese melts.
  12. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
