Orecchiette Pasta with Sausage and Broccoli

The vegetables

fresh broccoli florets

The seasoning and oil

grated Pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese

Instructions
- 1. Boil a large pot of salted water.
- 2. In a skillet, brown the sausage over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
- 3. Once the water boils, add the pasta and cook according to package instructions for al dente, adding broccoli halfway through.
- 4. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water before draining the pasta and broccoli.
- 5. Return the pot to the heat, add olive oil, and sauté the garlic until golden.
- 6. Add the drained pasta and sausage back to the pot, mixing well.
- 7. Stir in the remaining olive oil, cheese, salt, and pepper, and add reserved pasta water as needed.
- 8. Serve in bowls with additional cheese if desired.
