Instructions
- Score both sides of the pork shoulder to allow the marinade to penetrate.
- Rub the dry rub over the pork shoulder and add the apple juice, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, hot sauce, and liquid smoke.
- Marinate the pork in a plastic bag in the refrigerator overnight or for 24 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 250°F (121°C).
- Transfer the pork shoulder onto aluminum foil and discard the marinade.
- Mix the dry rub and brown sugar, then rub it over the pork.
- Wrap the pork tightly in aluminum foil and place it in a roasting pan.
- Slow roast the pork for 6 hours at 250°F or 3 hours at 350°F (176°C) if short on time.
- Heat the BBQ sauce in a saucepan and mix in the brown sugar.
- Remove the pork from the oven, unwrap the foil, and broil for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Let the pork cool for 30 minutes, then shred it and reserve the juices.
- Serve the pulled pork with BBQ sauce.
