Ingredients

The cookie base

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Chai spice

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon all-spice
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom

Eggnog frosting

  • ½ cup salted butter
  • cups powdered sugar
  • 2-4 tablespoons eggnog
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Decorations

  • as needed Mini Reese's
  • as needed mini chocolate chips
  • as needed sprinkles
  • as needed melted chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat together butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy, then add egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until combined.
  5. Prepare the chai spice sugar by mixing sugar, cinnamon, ginger, all-spice, and cardamom in a small bowl.
  6. Roll the dough into two sizes of balls and coat them in chai sugar.
  7. Place one smaller ball on top of a larger ball on the baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set, then let cool completely.
  9. Make the frosting by beating together butter and powdered sugar, then mix in eggnog and nutmeg.
  10. Frost the cooled cookies and decorate with candies and melted chocolate.
