Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
  • 2 ½ teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • a tiny pinch kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped dark chocolate or chocolate chips
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • shaved dark chocolate or chocolate chips for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk in a small saucepan until just simmering.
  2. Whisk in the cocoa powder, maple syrup, and salt.
  3. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla, whisking until melted and combined.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness with more maple syrup if desired.
  5. Pour into a mug and top with additional chocolate as desired.
