quality chocolate, chopped (or ¼ cup chocolate chips)

Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon maple syrup until combined.
- Add the milk and warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently until it simmers.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped chocolate and vanilla extract until blended.
- Taste and add more maple syrup if desired, then pour into mugs and add toppings if using.
