Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter in a stand mixer or with an electric mixer.
  2. Add the sugar and vanilla, then beat until fluffy.
  3. Mix in the flour and salt on low speed until combined.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and divide it in half.
  5. Shape each half into a rectangular block about 2 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
  6. Wrap the blocks in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Unwrap the dough and cut it into ½-inch-thick slices.
  9. Arrange the slices on the baking sheets, leaving space between them.
  10. Poke holes in each cookie with a toothpick for decoration.
  11. Bake for 10 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  12. Cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
