Instructions
- Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Add onions, bay leaf, and thyme to the slow cooker.
- Heat oil in a skillet and brown the roast on all sides.
- Place the browned roast on top of the onions in the slow cooker.
- Mix beef broth with bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder, then pour over the roast.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, adding carrots and potatoes halfway through.
- One hour before serving, mix flour and water, then add to the slow cooker to thicken the gravy.
- Remove the roast and vegetables when done, serve with gravy.
