Ingredients

The chicken

  • 4–6 pieces chicken thighs
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

The aromatics

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 medium shallots, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, rough chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme

The figs and broth

  • 10 pieces fresh figs, halved
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ¼ cup sherry cooking wine or ruby port
  • ¾ cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the chicken until golden, then set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté shallots, garlic, and thyme in butter until tender.
  4. Add figs and deglaze with wine, reducing it by half, then stir in the chicken broth.
  5. Nestle the chicken back into the pan, arranging figs around it, and shake the pan.
  6. Bake until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
