Instructions
- Heat the cream and milk until scalding hot.
- Whisk the egg yolks in a bowl and slowly whisk in the hot milk mixture.
- Return the mixture to the pan and cook until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and add the chocolate and sugar, whisking until melted.
- Strain the mixture to remove any curdled egg.
- Add salt, vanilla, and Grand Marnier if using, then divide into serving glasses.
- Refrigerate until set for at least 1 hour.
- Make the whipped cream by beating the cream until soft peaks form, then add sugar, salt, and vanilla.
- Serve the pot de crème with whipped cream on top and shaved chocolate if desired.
