Ingredients

The chocolate mixture

  • 9 ounces AMERICAN HERITAGE® Historic Chocolate Drink
  • cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

The whipped cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Place the chocolate drink in the blender jar.
  2. Whisk the milk, 1 cup of cream, egg yolks, sugar, and salt in a saucepan until smooth.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spatula.
  4. Pour the thickened mixture over the chocolate in the blender and add vanilla.
  5. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  6. Divide the mixture into ramekins or small jars.
  7. Chill until set for about 2-3 hours.
  8. Whip the remaining cup of heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  9. Dollop the whipped cream on top of the pots de creme and garnish with shaved chocolate if desired.
