Smoked Jalapeño Margarita

Ingredients

The simple syrup

  • 3 cups distilled water
  • 3 cups raw cane sugar
  • 3 slices jalapeños

The margarita

  • 2 oz smoked jalapeño simple syrup
  • 1 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz Patrón Silver Tequila
  • 1 oz Patrón Cintrónge lime liquor

For the glass rim

  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ lemon

Garnishes

  • to taste jalapeño slices
  • to taste lime slices

Instructions

  1. Combine water, sugar, and jalapeños in a pan and smoke at 165° to 180° for two hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once cooled, pour the simple syrup into a mason jar or glass bottle.
  3. For the margarita, combine all ingredients in a chilled cocktail shaker with ice.
  4. Shake well and pour over ice.
