Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pound potatoes
  • ½ medium onion
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup canola oil

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes, then squeeze out excess liquid.
  2. In a bowl, combine the grated potatoes with diced onions, flour, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, and egg.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Drop about ¼ cup of the potato mixture into the hot oil and flatten it slightly.
  5. Fry until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  6. Transfer cooked pancakes to a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  7. Repeat until all the mixture is used and serve with applesauce or sour cream.
