Ingredients

Filling

  • 240 g sweet red bean paste

Batter

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 ½ tbs sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • cup water
  • cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Divide the sweet red bean paste into 6 portions and shape each into a cylinder.
  2. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and create a well in the center.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk and water until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the well of the dry ingredients and combine without overmixing.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the batter for about 30 minutes.
  6. Heat the taiyaki pan and lightly grease it if necessary.
  7. Pour about 2 tablespoons of batter into the bottom of each mold.
  8. Place a roll of sweet red bean paste in the center and cover it with more batter.
  9. Press the pan and cook each side for 3-5 minutes over low heat.
  10. Carefully remove the taiyaki and repeat the process with the remaining batter and filling.
