Instant Pot Tri-Tip

Ingredients

The meat

  • 2 pounds beef tri tip roast

The seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

The cooking oil

  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil (avocado oil recommended)

The broth

  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Pat the tri-tip dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix the salt, garlic powder, and pepper in a small bowl and rub the mixture into the meat.
  3. Select the sauté function on the Instant Pot and add the oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add the tri-tip and sauté for 2 minutes on each side.
  5. Cancel the sauté function and scrape any brown bits from the bottom of the pot.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and place the trivet inside.
  7. Return the tri-tip to the pot on top of the trivet and lock the lid.
  8. Cook on high pressure for 25 minutes, then use quick release.
  9. Carefully remove the tri-tip and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or shredding.
