Ingredients

The Chocolate Sheet Cake

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup sour cream

The Peanut Butter Icing

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa powder, then bring to a boil and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt, then create a well in the center.
  4. Add the cocoa mixture to the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth, then add sour cream and whisk again until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking sheet and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, melted butter, and vanilla in a bowl.
  8. Add peanut butter and whisk to combine, microwaving for 30 seconds if too thick.
  9. Pour the icing over the warm cake and spread evenly, then allow to cool before slicing and serving.
