Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare the cake pans.
- Sift the cake flour and whisk together with baking powder and salt.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy using an electric mixer.
- Add the eggs and egg yolks one at a time, mixing in the vanilla with the last yolk.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture until combined.
- Divide the batter among the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then add powdered sugar and whip until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, whip the cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the remaining powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture along with the strawberries.
- Once the cake is cool, frost with the strawberry cream cheese whipped cream.
