Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Puree the strawberries, reserving some for the frosting and measuring out for the cake.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk the strawberry puree, milk, and vanilla together.
- Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then add the egg whites and whole eggs.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients in stages, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
- Prepare the frosting by beating the butter and cream cheese, then adding powdered sugar and strawberry puree.
- Assemble the cake by layering the frosting between the cake layers and covering the top and sides.
