Ingredients

The sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup whipping cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • cup flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tbsp powdered mustard
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • ½ cup shredded gouda
  • 1 cup shredded muenster
  • ½ cup aged alpine cheddar
  • ½ fresh jalapeño, diced

The pasta and meats

  • cups uncooked small shells
  • 1 large grilled chicken breast, shredded
  • ½ cup diced pork sausage link

Instructions

  1. Heat a large saucepan to medium-low and melt the butter.
  2. Add diced jalapeño and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Whisk in flour for 30 seconds, then gradually add milk while whisking.
  4. Add cream while whisking, then season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes, then reduce to a simmer.
  6. Whisk in powdered mustard and garlic powder.
  7. Slowly add shredded cheese, whisking until melted and smooth.
  8. Drain the pasta and mix it into the cheese sauce.
  9. Add shredded chicken and sausage, mixing gently.
