Sparkly Wine Pear Cocktails

Ingredients

Pear Syrup

  • 3 pieces ripe anjou pears, peeled and sliced
  • cup water or apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon mulling spices
  • 2 pieces cinnamon sticks
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ to ⅓ cup honey or maple syrup

Cocktails/Mocktails

  • 24–28 ounces chilled prosecco or sparkling apple juice/ginger ale for mocktails
  • 2 to 3 ounces optional bourbon or whiskey

Garnishes

  • as needed none egg whites or citrus juice
  • as needed none brown sugar or coconut palm sugar
  • as needed none fresh thyme, sage, or rosemary

Instructions

  1. Blend the peeled and sliced pears with water or apple juice until smooth.
  2. Simmer the pear puree with mulling spices, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla for 15 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, mix in maple syrup or honey, cool, and strain the syrup.
  4. Coat the rim of glasses with egg white and dip in sugar.
  5. Pour ¼ cup of pear syrup into each glass followed by sparkling wine or ginger ale, and stir in bourbon if using.
  6. Add ice if desired and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
