Ingredients

The sandwich

  • 4 pieces French baguette
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 lbs. boneless pork butt
  • 1 bunch cilantro leaves
  • 1 cup Vietnamese picked carrots and daikon

Lemongrass pork marinade

  • ½ cup lemongrass, minced
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 5 cloves shallots, peeled and minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Pound the pork slices lightly and mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Marinate the pork for at least 2 hours or overnight, then grill until charred.
  3. Spread mayonnaise on the baguette, add grilled pork, top with pickled veggies and cilantro, then serve.
