Ingredients

  • 1 block tempeh
  • ½ medium red onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • cup water

Instructions

  1. Crumble the tempeh to resemble ground beef consistency.
  2. Heat olive oil in a frying pan.
  3. Add diced red onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until slightly translucent.
  4. Add the crumbled tempeh and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Mix the spices in a small bowl.
  6. Add the spices and water to the pan with tempeh, stirring until evenly coated.
  7. Let it heat through and simmer for about 10-12 minutes until most water has evaporated.
  8. Serve the taco filling with your favorite tortillas or taco shells.
