Spicy Fried Chicken Tenders

Ingredients

The marinade

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

The dredge

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¾ teaspoon black pepper

The chicken

  • 1 ½ pounds chicken tenders

For frying

  • as needed unit oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine buttermilk, sea salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, ginger, garlic, onion, and Italian seasoning in a bowl and whisk together.
  2. Cover chicken tenders with the buttermilk mixture in a baking dish and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  3. Remove chicken from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature.
  4. Mix all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper in a shallow bowl for dredging.
  5. Prepare a plate with paper towels to drain excess grease after frying.
  6. Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350-365°F.
  7. Remove chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, and coat in the flour mixture.
  8. Fry the chicken tenders in hot oil for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Drain cooked chicken on the prepared plate or wire rack.
  10. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
