Instructions
- Prepare and organize all vegetables and ingredients.
- Heat olive oil in a medium pot over medium-high heat, then add onions and garlic, cover, and cook until softened.
- Season with salt, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and dried basil, stirring for about 1 minute.
- Add chickpeas, stir, cover, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and water, then simmer for 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Cook pasta according to package directions, drain, and return to pot with olive oil.
- Check the chickpea sauce; if thickened and chickpeas are soft, stir in chopped kale and remove from heat.
- Top with shredded parmesan cheese before serving.
