Shortcut Scalloped Potatoes for One

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a medium saucepan, cover the sliced potatoes with cold water and add salt generously.
- Bring the water to a low boil and cook the potatoes for 3 to 5 minutes until just fork tender.
- Drain the potatoes and layer them in a baking dish with cheese, ham, and butter, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper.
- Finish with a final layer of cheese and ham, then pour milk or cream over the top.
- Place the dish on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
