Burrata Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 dough Homemade Whole Wheat Pizza Dough or store-bought pizza dough
  • ½ tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ cup pizza sauce or pesto sauce
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes, halved
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese
  • teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • pinch flaky sea salt (such as Maldon or fleur de sel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F and place a pizza stone in the lower third of the oven.
  2. Prepare a large sheet of parchment paper and coat it with nonstick spray. Place the dough in the center and mist the top with nonstick spray.
  3. Roll the dough into a circle, about 10 inches in diameter, then cover with another sheet of parchment and roll to about 11½ inches.
  4. Dust the top of the dough lightly with flour and transfer it to a pizza peel dusted with flour.
  5. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a border for the crust, and scatter the halved cherry tomatoes on top.
  6. Carefully slide the dough onto the hot pizza stone and bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle the burrata over the top.
  8. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the burrata is melty and hot.
  9. Transfer the pizza to a cutting board, sprinkle with red pepper flakes and flaky salt, add fresh basil, slice, and serve.
