Brown Butter White Chocolate Matcha Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups + 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp matcha powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs room temperature eggs
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter by heating it until it turns a golden yellow color and has brown specs.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and matcha powder in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the browned butter with white sugar and brown sugar until combined.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and whisk until light and creamy.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a green dough forms.
  6. Fold in the white chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Scoop cookie dough onto baking sheets, spacing them 2-3 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the bottoms are light brown.
  11. Cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
