Ingredients

The sweet potato base

  • 3 cups sweet potatoes, drained
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • cup milk
  • ¾ cup cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 large beaten eggs
  • to taste salt

The topping

  • 5 tablespoons melted butter
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup flour
  • 1 cup pecan pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Mash the sweet potatoes and mix in melted butter, milk, sugar, vanilla, beaten eggs, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the sweet potato mixture into a baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, flour, and pecan pieces to create crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the sweet potato base.
  6. Bake for 25-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and edges pull away from the sides.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.
