Ingredients

The meat and broth

  • 4 pounds beef brisket
  • ½ cup beef broth

The rub and sauce

  • cup brisket rub
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (for topping)

Other

  • 1 spray cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F.
  2. Coat the brisket with the brisket rub.
  3. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray and pour the beef broth into the bottom.
  4. Place the brisket in the dish and pour 1 cup of barbecue sauce over it.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 3 ½ hours or until the meat is tender.
  6. Remove the brisket from the dish and place it on a sheet pan coated with cooking spray.
  7. Brush ¼ cup of barbecue sauce over the top of the brisket and broil for 3-5 minutes until caramelized.
  8. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes, then slice against the grain and serve with the remaining barbecue sauce.
