Ingredients

The beef

  • 4-5 pounds beef brisket

The seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons Creole or steak seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

The aromatics

  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

The sauces

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Season the brisket generously with salt, pepper, and steak seasoning.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over high heat and sear the brisket for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Remove the brisket and sauté sliced onions, garlic, and thyme in the same pan until fragrant.
  4. Add Worcestershire and soy sauce to the pan and cook for another minute.
  5. Place the sautéed onions in the slow cooker, add the brisket, and top with three-quarters of the barbecue sauce.
  6. Cook on low for about 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
  7. Let the beef rest for 15 minutes after cooking, then brush with remaining barbecue sauce, slice, and serve.
