Ingredients

The scone dough

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup salted butter
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup cinnamon chips

For finishing

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • to taste none granulated sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then pulse to mix.
  3. 3. Add butter and pulse until the mixture resembles pea-sized pieces.
  4. 4. Add buttermilk and vanilla, pulsing until the dough starts to come together.
  5. 5. Gently knead in cinnamon chips by hand, then shape the dough into a rectangle.
