Ingredients

The filling

  • tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • pounds ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons almond flour
  • 1 cup canned tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • ½ cup beef broth

The mashed cauliflower topping

  • 1 medium cauliflower, chopped
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat, then add onions and garlic and cook for a minute.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until no longer pink. Turn the heat to medium-high and mix in the almond flour.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, and beef broth, then bring to a simmer and cook until thick.
  4. Transfer the filling into a baking dish and preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  5. Steam the cauliflower until soft, then blend with butter until combined. Add cream, salt, pepper, and cheese, blending until smooth.
  6. Spread the cauliflower mixture on top of the filling and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
