Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350℉ (175℃) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal, then slowly add the buttermilk and mix until combined.
- In a saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and cook over medium heat for 6-8 minutes until the sugar dissolves and juices are released.
- Transfer the peach mixture to the prepared baking pan and smooth it out.
- Drop the dough by handfuls over the peaches, leaving some gaps.
- Brush the top with heavy cream or egg wash and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream.
