Ingredients

The pasta

  • 10 ounces linguine pasta

The sauce

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

The shrimp

  • 1 pound medium shrimp
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Garnish

  • parsley sprigs
  • lemon slices

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to package directions.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the shrimp to the pan, season with salt and pepper, and cook until pink and opaque.
  4. Add garlic to the pan and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Remove the shrimp from the pan and cover to keep warm.
  6. Melt the remaining butter in the pan over medium heat.
  7. Add heavy cream and simmer until just thickened, without boiling.
  8. Whisk in parmesan cheese until melted, then stir in lemon juice.
  9. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Drain the pasta and combine it with the sauce in the pan.
  11. Add half the shrimp and toss everything together.
  12. Arrange the remaining shrimp on top, sprinkle with parsley, and garnish with parsley sprigs and lemon slices before serving.
