Ingredients

The chicken wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

The teriyaki sauce

  • ½ cup soy sauce or liquid aminos
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sweetener or sugar
  • 2 teaspoons minced ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger (if using)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the teriyaki sauce by combining soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Mix cornstarch and water in a separate bowl, then add to the saucepan to thicken the sauce.
  3. Season the chicken wings with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bake wings in a preheated oven at 375°F for 20 minutes, flip, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  5. Optionally, drizzle teriyaki sauce over the wings and bake for 5 more minutes.
  6. For air frying, season wings and air fry at 400°F for 15 minutes, flip, then cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Drizzle teriyaki sauce over the air-fried wings and optionally air fry for another 5 minutes.
