Instant Pot Korean Ground Beef

Ingredients

The beef mixture

  • 2 teaspoons Vegetable Oil
  • lbs Ground Beef or Ground Turkey, 90% lean
  • 7 cloves Garlic
  • cup Soy Sauce, low sodium
  • ½ cup Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Ginger, grated
  • ½ Asian Pear grated (optional)
  • ¾ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • ½ teaspoon White Pepper

The rice

  • cups Jasmine Rice, well rinsed
  • cups Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

To serve

  • Tortillas (for tacos)
  • Lettuce Leaves (for lettuce wraps)

For garnish

  • 2 Green Onions sliced
  • to taste Sesame Seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare and measure all ingredients for smoother cooking.
  2. Turn on the Instant Pot's Sauté setting and heat the oil, then add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add garlic, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, Asian pear (if using), red pepper flakes, and white pepper. Mix well.
  4. Cancel the Sauté setting and place the trivet in the pot over the beef.
  5. In a separate pan, combine the rice, water, and butter, then place it on top of the trivet.
  6. Seal the lid and set the steam release knob to Sealing position.
  7. Select Pressure Cook/Manual and set to cook for 4 minutes on high pressure.
  8. After cooking, allow a natural release for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure.
  9. Remove the rice pan, fluff the rice, and stir the beef.
  10. Serve the beef over rice, in lettuce wraps, or in tacos, garnished as desired.
