Ingredients

The bread

  • ½ cup neutral-flavored oil
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsulphured molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice

The streusel

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease three mini loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, buttermilk, brown sugar, molasses, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Add the flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cloves, and allspice, mixing until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  5. For the streusel, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly, then stir in the pecans.
  7. Sprinkle the streusel over each loaf and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for a few minutes in the pans before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
