Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Kokutō
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine Kokutō and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove any scum that appears while simmering.
  4. Turn off the heat when the mixture thickens but is still slightly runny, as it will harden upon cooling.
  5. Pour the syrup into a sterilized jar for storage.
