Ingredients

The chicken tenders

  • 1 pound skinless chicken tenders
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • as needed cooking oil spray

The Nashville hot sauce mixture

  • ¼ cup Hot Sauce
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons brown sweetener or sugar
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Whisk together buttermilk and egg in a separate bowl.
  3. Dredge chicken tenders in the flour mixture, then in the buttermilk mixture, and again in the flour mixture.
  4. For air fryer: Spray basket with oil, add tenders, and spray them with oil. Air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes, flip, and cook for another 4-8 minutes until crisp.
  5. For oven: Preheat oven to 425°F, place tenders on a baking rack or sheet pan, spray with oil, and bake for 10 minutes. Flip and bake for another 10 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Combine melted butter, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, brown sweetener, smoked paprika, and chili powder in a bowl.
  7. Drizzle the sauce over the cooked tenders and serve.
