Instructions
- Pat dry the chicken tenders with paper towels.
- Combine buttermilk, egg, pickle juice, and hot sauce in a bowl and whisk until combined.
- Add chicken tenders to the buttermilk mixture, mix to coat, cover, and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.
- Remove chicken from the marinade and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, chili powder, dry mustard, salt, and black pepper.
- Dredge chicken in the flour mixture, dip in buttermilk, and then coat again in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F.
- Fry chicken tenders for 5-6 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove cooked chicken and place on a wire rack to drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and add cayenne, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, brown sugar, and honey.
- Whisk and heat until brown sugar dissolves, then add hot oil from frying.
- Toss fried chicken in the sauce until well-coated and serve.
