Ingredients

The filling

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • ½ cup shiitake mushrooms, finely minced
  • ¼ cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

The wrappers and oil

  • 12 ounces square wonton wrappers
  • as needed amount vegetable oil for frying

For serving

  • as desired amount sweet chili sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine the pork, mushrooms, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, pepper, ginger, and garlic in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface and brush the edges with water.
  3. Add ¾ teaspoon of the filling to the center of the wrapper, fold it into a triangle, and seal the edges.
  4. Heat 3 inches of oil in a deep pot to 375°F.
  5. Fry the wontons in batches for 3-5 minutes until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve immediately with sweet chili sauce if desired.
