Ingredients

Wontons

  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 1 bowl water (to seal the wontons)
  • 2-3 cups water (to boil wontons)
  • to taste white sesame (for garnishing)

Filling

  • 8 oz ground pork
  • 2 stalks scallions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 dashes ground white pepper

Sauce

  • ⅓ - ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese Chinkiang black vinegar (or balsamic vinegar)
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons Sichuan chili oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • to taste cilantro leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine all filling ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Mix all sauce ingredients together until well combined and set aside.
  3. To wrap the wontons, place about a teaspoon of filling in the center of a wrapper, wet the edges with water, and fold to seal tightly.
  4. Bring water to a boil and gently drop in the wontons, stirring to prevent sticking.
  5. Boil until the wontons float to the top, about 1-2 minutes, then transfer to a bowl.
  6. Add the desired amount of sauce to the wontons and toss gently to coat.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
