Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ one green bell pepper, cut into small pieces
  • ½ one red bell pepper, cut into small pieces
  • 2 pieces fresh or canned pineapple rings, cut into small pieces
  • as needed none oil for deep frying

Marinade

  • 1 tablespoon mirin, Japanese rice wine
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 one egg
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch

Sweet And Sour Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • ½ tablespoon cornstarch
  • 4 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Marinate the shrimp with mirin, salt, ground white pepper, egg, and corn starch for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix all the ingredients for the sweet and sour sauce in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet and deep-fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Discard the oil from the skillet, then stir-fry the bell peppers and pineapple for less than 1 minute.
  5. Add the sweet and sour sauce to the skillet and cook until it thickens.
  6. Add the fried shrimp to the skillet and stir to coat evenly with the sauce. Serve immediately.
