Ingredients

Dough

  • ¼ cup lukewarm milk
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast

Cinnamon Roll Filling

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • ¼ cup ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons light or dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • pinch kosher salt

Cream Cheese Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing lukewarm milk and yeast, letting it activate.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl, then add to the yeast mixture along with beaten eggs and vanilla.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise in the fridge for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  4. Make the filling by mixing butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, white sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  5. Roll out the chilled dough and spread the filling evenly over it.
  6. Roll the dough into a log and slice it into rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise until doubled in size.
  8. Preheat the oven and bake the rolls until golden brown.
  9. Prepare the cream cheese glaze by mixing butter and cream cheese, then adding sugars, vanilla, salt, and heavy cream.
  10. Pour the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
